Talking Good Day Everyone

I haven't been on any forums for about 4 yrs back when I put cfw on my psp. Lately I've been thinking about hacking my ps3 but i wanna read up on pros vs cons. I hope you guys help me figure this out. I looking forward to learning from this community and in return helping you guys with anything I can.

^whoa that sounds like I'm doing an interview or something

Pros:

Homebrew
  • Emulators
  • Showtime
  • Backup Managers
  • Game Mods

Basically, anything Sony did not intend for you to do.

Cons:

Developers
  • More often than not hide information from the public which can halt Scene progression
  • Some have sold out to DRM device manufacturers

Sony
  • No PSN/SEN Access
  • New games are not playable for long periods of time
  • No Netflix
  • Constantly taking extra security measures

When I think of more I'll add them.

Welcome @Juvie

I think @Annelies summed it all up pretty well.

CFW has a lot of pro's usbloading, emulators and showtime being three majorly cool features, but also you cant run newer blurays, cant play online, cant play most newer games (3.7x+).

But IMHO CFW ftw

If you have a backwards compatible PS3, then yes, you can still play all PS2 games. All PS1 models can play PS1 games.

Are you talking about the retail discs or backups?

Well I know for a fact that my ps3 isn't backwards compatible with ps2 games. I was hoping that hacking my ps3 would allow it. And well either way, disc or backup, doesn't matter to me.

Well, @Juvie , this was released for hacked PS3's and it adds PS2 compatibility via Sony's buggy emulator and although it's installable on all PS3 models I'm not sure if it is compatible with your non-BC model. If it is, it will probably be very buggy anyways.

You can play PS1 games via retail disc on all PS3 models regardless of CFW/OFW.

That is a great game but unfortunately we do not have an N64 emulator.

We have emulators for mostly everything up until the PS1 or rather the 3d-era of gaming.
