have you tried turning your tv off?
not just by the power switch but unplug it from the wall. wait a few secs to a min then plug it back in.
then connect your ps3 with both the hdmi and muli out connector.
turn on your ps3 wait for it to boot up then start going through your av / scart channel's then hdmi channels to see if you now get a pic with any of them.

let me know if this works or not.

this is a way to recover hdmi picture as some tv's stop auto switching the hdmi on

Ah man, if it turns out you are on the wrong channel, THAT will be classic... unfortunately I don't think that is the issue

if the cpu needs reflow then you get a RLOD
if the gpu needs reflow then you get a YLOD

i have just seen your youtube vid.

you need to remove the GPU heat spreader and replace the compound then place some thermal glue on the 4 mem chips to glue the GPU heat spreader back in place.

then remove the CPU heat spreader and change the compound there. then replace the heat resistant silicon sealant (look on e-bay for cooker door sealant)

the GPU is easy to do but the CPU is difficult. if you havent done one then dont. try the GPU if it solves it then fine but i would say it is more likely the CPU so if you have never actually been shown how to do one then send it off to someone to do it for you.

If you reflow or reball not removed the IHS(GPU heat spreader) off otherwise you'll blow the GPU chip, my suggestion is reball.

its not a ylod or rlod so re-ball / re-flow wont work
and to propperly re-ball & re-flow you should remove the heat spreader!

the paste under the heat spreader has dried due to the heat so heating it again during the re-ball / re-flow will just dry it out even more. as the fan kicks in then the temp sensor under the GPU / CPU has detected high heat due to the paste being dry and not transfering the heat from the chip.
so it needs chnging.

if not he will be making things worse by heating it and then possibly creating a ylod / rlod or melting the temp sensor and then he will be really screwed.

i do about 5-8 ps3's per week and have never had a "real" ylod / rlod on a slim.
i have always done the paste under the heat spreader and it has fixed the fan rev / on screen message "system is too hot etc" / and the ylod / rlod also fixed this way (as i said i have never had a "real" ylod / rlod)

well if you have come across a real ylod then ok fine.
but you must also agree that if someone who has never done one can create more problems by attempting to re-ball / re-flow.

however popping the heat spreader off is an easy task.

if you had the option of buying a faulty ps3 that had been attempted to be re-balled / re-flowed or one where someone had just tried to change the paste under the GPU heat spreader then which would you buy?

i would go with the paste option as its the one that has half a chance of not being totaly screwed

if it was the CPU however i would leave it well alone as its more likely the chip has been sliced into.

Well, Now I reflow-ed it ( without removing the heat spreader ), the results are same, Fans fires up and RLOD's. Do you think reflowing without the heat spreader will fix the issue ???
