no re-flowing your ps3 wont do anything.
with yours the heat transfer paste has dried under the heat spreader's.

try removing the GPU heat spreader first re-apply the paste then replace the heat transfer glue

Saw a video on youtube, where that guy just use normal thermal paste instead of glue, will it work??PS3 YLOD Heat Plate (GPU or CPU Cover) Fix - YouTube

And can I use any of the 3M thermal adhesive products ??

Do not follow that YouTube video. That guy is an idiot. That was enough thermal paste to do 3 ps3 entirely. And he said as5 wouldn't conduct or short stuff out. It has the highest content of silver and most definitely conductive.

personaly i would never do this as it is so easy for the heat spreader to slide out of position while re-building the ps3.
and if this is a ps3 that your selling on then no dont as it will move during shipment

use the Thermally Conductive Epoxy Adhesive
use the 2035 or 2037 these are designed for processors
and as its grease not paste (i prefer the grease myself) put a pea sized drop on the center of the chip and it will spread without you getting it everywhere

and

Thermally Conductive Grease
(any is fine btw mix a pea sized amount and devide it into 4. as you just need a drop on each memory chip. also put plenty of paper around the GPU to catch any drips you "may" have as it is highly conductive and impossible to remove from psb's as it uses the same glue that is used to create the board)

@baileyscream and to think people watch that and think that is how it should be done. Scary really. If everyone watched some poor sap on YouTube do something then followed their directions, we would all be f***ed. No wonder there are so many messed up ps3 out there. I wouldn't use a YouTube videos advice to learn how to put shoes on for Christ sake, unless I knew for a fact it was from a reliable source

the scary thing is honest ppl are looking for the correct fix and as they have never done anything like this before they then think this is how the pro's do it.
he should be banned from youtube for that.
atleast this vid finaly explains a ps3 i had in a few months back that had the exact same done to it.
i thought it was a mistake by a noob but it looks like i might start getting more in.
i better buy more capacitors

also i'm looking to see if he has a youtube vid on how to hack a ps3.
i'm expecting to see a ps3 being attacked with a hacksaw loool.

Buddy, I successfully removed the RSX ( IHS ) and cleaned the old adhesive and paste and applied MX-4 on the dye and epoxy to the samsung chips,

But when I switched on the console, the same thing happens. ( Fan fires up and RLOD/s)

I guess, the paste under the Cell is dried up and I need to replace it, I have got a spare Ps3 moBO and I tried to pry it out ( before trying on my slim ), it seems, its hard to come out. What is the best method or ?? tool ?? to remove the IHS of CPU ??

i really advise against it.
but i have posted the correct way as you will probably ignore my advice and would then follow an incorrect methord

i will take a pic of my cutting tool.
you need to find a really thin piece of metal (i will check as maybe a cola can is thin enough.
take a look at THIS thread for an idea of what to do.
but dont attempt it yet untill i get you a pic of the tool for you and also the depth to make the tool so you dont go to deep under the spreader and hit the chip (if you touch it then you have wrecked it)
