doublecheck my downgrade/softmod process

I'm trying to get from OFW 4.21 to Kmeaw CFW 3.55 using my PSP, and I think I've figured out how to do it. I'd like you guys to check my process to make sure all my steps are sound, and let me know if I missed anything.

I'm starting with a PSP on CFW 6.39 ME-6. My ps3's model number is CECHK01.

1. Run hellcats recovery flasher to downgrade my PSP to OFW 5.50

2. install CFW 5.50 GEN-D

3. Load PS3jig onto my PSP

4. Connect my PSP to my PS3's rightmost USB port

5. Execute PS3jig to put my PS3 in Factory Service Mode

6. load OFW 3.55 onto a USB drive

7. Use install from portable media to install OFW 3.55

8. Download and install kmeaw 3.55

9. De-hash

The only question I have is whether or not I'll be able to run games like Fallout New Vegas, Skyrim, and so forth post-CFW.

Send a message via MSN to DaveOMac
Sorry mate you'd need a hardware mod (i.e. e3 flasher) installed in your ps3 to downgrade your firmware. Using a psp ain't going to cut it if your machine hasn't got it.

Are you sure about that? I checked ps3devwiki, and it has a guide for using jigs to downgrade via FSM. These posts suggested to me that the specific method I would be using is still functional.

will i really searched and looked for them but i found the ps3jig for the psp and used it, it loads fine but the ps3 will not turned off and the message of connecting ps3 controller appears. i feel something wrong here, i was on 4.21 to start with.
where i can find the jig files of the dongle? also when connect the dongle to PC it is not recognized?
One more thing, when i try to turn off the ps3 slim, i do not press once i have to keep pressing for about 8 sec until it turns off? is this normal. since i have another working slim ps3 and when i want to turn it off i only press once??!!!

Also make sure when the connect controller screen comes up, you cut the power by the switch or pulling the plug. Not by holding the power button.

If you don't cut the power completely by the switch or pulling the plug. The Power eject does not work to go to FSM.

FSM only works on 3.56 and lower possibly 3.60 soon
if you do it on 3.60+ you'll brick your console because you cant leave FSM.

DO NOT USE FSM ON FIRMWARE 3.56 AND ABOVE.
YOU CAN ENTER FSM BUT THERE IS NO WAY TO EXIT.

the wiki has fsm downgrade but only from 3.55
if your on 3.56 or above then DONOT enter fsm

fsm is NOT to be used to downgade a console that is on f/w 3.56 or above.

................................................................................................

all you will do is enter fsm and be stuck in that mode with NO files that will work to downgrade you or take you out of fsm.

If you read the rest of that thread I posted that in, you would see the user was using e3 flasher.

I had read that it wasn't possible to downgrade i you started at 3.56 or above, but what I read of your the downgrade tutorial thread suggested that was no longer the case. My mistake.

ah. ok i see

the thread is supposed to be fool proof but i didnt realise there was confusion about the service mode in there.

as you have pointed this out to me then when i update the thread next i will add something about the service mode not downgrading f/w 3.56 and above without the additional flasher hardware.

I think I got my kit too soon. They probably added the linker to the kit later. After so many complaints about the clip.
