this the hard drive i have is "western digital my book essential 3tb usb 3.0', i hav formatted it to 2 partitions one is 2tb fat32 and the other is 1tb ntfs. and my ps3 doesn't recognize the fat32 partitions !!! any help would be much appreciated!! the hard drive supports both 2.0 and 3.0 usb.

Try making 1tb ....cuz I hav western digital 1tb USB 3.0/2.0 which is fat32 !!!!!

I had the similar issue full 3Tb FAT32 then i partitioned in a split .The PS3 seen my drive though, but when i went to try & copy to .It just got stuck & sat at the copy progress bar without anything being copying just said please wait. My 3Tb is 2.0/3.0 compatible & is a seagate.

My friend @Ron36 knows how to get it working. Search 3TB & his name here in the search bar to find the thread, he explains how he did his + links to the app. I was no lazy to go through it. I already have to many big drives. I decided to use the 3Tb for PC/PS3 FTP DATA backup & will get another 2TB instead for my PS3s .You have to format it a certain way + a formatting app he used,etc

I hope you find it cause it does suck when it happened to me. I knew it was a bad choice, but i am sure after getting it formatted proper its great, but extreme data loss if it got corrupted, which i am not a fan of big drives for that reason / so i clone them.

Anyways hope you find the thread or help .

Had a 2TB full of games, it got formatted - to this day I still don't know how that happened

i have the same problem . I have Samsung S2 Portable 1TB with one NTFS partition. When i press START + /\ i see my hdd folders and files but when i try to start copy after one second its stop and nothing happend. And after this i can`t see any files or folders on my ext hdd. I don`t know its powered hub usb gonna help in this situation ? I don`t wont to buy usslesss thing ......

Just buy a new usb stick.
I am pretty sure you will find another usb in your house, I got like 10 just floating around here.

you will not get usb 3.0 speeds with a usb 2.0 hub

i also have the wd 3tb mybook and the speeds at usb3.0 are ~80MB/S
while on a usb2.0 hub are ~25-30MB/S
