i had the same problem going from 3.55 dex no mod.

the systrem would turn in for maybe 5-7 secs, would beep 5 double beeps (10 beeps) and the after 5 more secs it would turn off.

i couldnt enter FSM or get to recovery menu. no usb/no hdd/no BT in other words...

-if this is your problem, you will DEF need a flasher.
-you need to take your original dump and patch it as normal downgrader (like you were downgrading from 4.21 to 3.55)
-once you patch your dump, flash it to the console. this will atleast allow the usb drive to work because lv1 checks are patched out. i guess you can say it seems like it gives the ps3 its brains back :P
-once its flashed, power of the system all the way. unplug power/flip switch off in the back.
-enter FSM with your jig.
-install rogero 3.3 or 3.4 in FSM with the lv2diag.self (366kb)
-once ps3 turns itself off, use lv2diag.self (202kb) to exit FSM
-boot ps3 and install toggle QA.pkg (be sure the bdrom is hooked up)
-run toggle qa.pkg

done

If you have a jig you might still be able to get into Factory Service Mode. It does still give the same error beeps even when using a jig.

I had this issue and was able to use FSM to go back to Rogero 3.4 then back to 3.55 Kmeaw.

Look up and follow one of the downgrading guides for detailed instructions.

Despite various members went from DEX to CEX, there are still folks experiencing brick even though they have followed a working guide. It may be working for you but strangely it might not work for others.

Even though, NOR PS3 Slims should not have problem going DEX <--> CEX, but I strongly suggest that you have a USB Dongle with you first before you attempt any DEX <-> CEX switching.

You could follow this if you experience a brick.

1. Before you start be in Rogero 3.55 DEX CFW
2. Flash your CEX.EID0.NORBIN in multiman CEX
3. Exit Multiman.
4. Now this is the important part. Do not reboot or turn off ps3 with remote, you will brick it. Do a system update by going into recovery mode, (Turn off Playstation; hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again, once the system has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps; when you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button; you will be promted to plug in your controller via usb and then hit the PS button; the Recovery menu will pop up; choose system update.)
Update your PS3 by using Rogero 3.55CEX CFW v3.4 ( this CEX fw have LV1 syscon checks patched to avoid Bricking ).
5. Done, your back to CEX firmware.

If you want you could install your favorite CFW after Rogero 3.55 CEX CFW v3.4.

I'm not responsible for any bricks this may cause. I'm just sharing what I did to convert my ps3 back to CEX from DEX. Good luck!
This methode bricked my PS3. Fixed with E3 Card Reader, Thank you god
