If the MFR date is 2009 or later then it's a perfectly good console.

If it's 2005-2007 avoid like the plague.

if it was all good, they should be willing to show it.
"sold as seen" "no warranty" and similar statements are generally a cop out to protect them from a known issue that would come back and bite them in the ass (speaking from much experience)

they may as well say "ill swap you for this one but dont come back when it ****s up"

if i sell/trade a console that i know to be in good order they get warranty,
i only give 2 months but thats a minimum time IMO that anybody should be willing to give if they have nothing to hide

as i said though, thats how it seems to "me"

In the first 2-3 years of release I had four 360's die on me, since then a jasper and zephyr have served me just fine, I think problems after the release of the Elite are grossly exaggerated.

The seller has offer to show me the RGH soldering and test the console out so should all be good - fingers crossed
