to trigger the core dump you could use
samples/sdk/dbg/exception_handler in the 4+ sdk for example
using liblv2dbg

dumps are from me.....just when a game crashed m8...black screen...the showtime crash as you can see from the filename of the dump comes from showtime.self
if the ps3 dosnt like what you throw at it ...it should cause a crash

you could look at a games filesystem...lets say a file called hello.sprx - replace it with a dummy file with the same filename..this could cause a crash

even if you do not see the squares in the bottom left hand corner still check that a dump has been achieved...as a few times i didnt notice the squares ...

Well, if you can get core dumps triggered for some unreleased 4.x game i'd take a look at it.. i don't have a dex myself. The two dumps for Catherine & Dogma did not provide enough clues for proper reconstruction yet..
