Question Is connecting to the internet safe?

Ever since i jailbroke my PS3 i've been paranoid about having my internet on. So i just kept it off. What i feared was it will ask me to update and i accidentely click it! I want to update multiman .. but that requires internet.. is it safe to turn it on just to update multiman?

p.s. if he does update by some chance.. can i just turn off the ps3 before it reaches 5%? or will that destroy my ps3?

p.s.s i have a game that has split files and i want to combine it on my internal. but when i test it .. it says Press [ ] to continue.. only thing i can press is and it brings me back to game settings. am i not allowed to join split files?

When I had my 3.55 CFW slim it was connected to the internet the whole time it was on CFW. Nothing happened, no bans or anything.

To accidently update your ps3, you would have to:
Say yes to download
Wait for download
Read the TOC and press right on the d pad
Then you would still have to press down after that
Then you would have to press X to accept.

There are no accidental updates, in my opinion.
You would have to pretty stupid to do all that and not realize what you are doing.

I have the internet on always. On my CEX and my DEX consoles. Never even got close to accepting an update.
