I might get a 120 GB, and i was wondering if anyone has found a way to soft mod it yet. I havent been on here in a while so bear with me,

All 120GB slims can run 3.55, but if they were updated they're not running it anymore.. In that case you'd need a Progskeet or E3 to downgrade it.

I have 2 CECH2000 models, but I'd ideally get a 2100 or 2500 because they run colder, once they're 3.55 of course.

Just keep asking before you buy, checking the FW takes 2 seconds for a seller and a lot of them are being sold because they haven't been used in a while.

You would need hardware flasher and fsm dongle so it wouldn't be free. You can pay someone to do it. @playerkp420 does it cheap

If you're looking to buy a PS3, just be persistent and try get one on 3.55. Otherwise you'll have to spend €40+ to get the hardware needed for downgrading.

In the mean time, read around the forums, these questions are answered nearly daily (if not more often).
