How does one go about figuring out what values to change

Just wanted to post an update ... I got the GTA4 codes switched to a new region easily and all the codes worked great. I did that by editing the existing and changing the game info.

But I found a bug in creating a new game and adding codes. I tried to create a new version of Disgaea 4 (different region code and version) and just add the steal code, I could create the code and add it just fine, but as soon as I would switch to another game and come back to it the code would disappear completely. So then I tried adding the code and immediately saving the database and it still disappeared and the saved database showed a blank code spot when I loaded it in the cheat loader on the ps3.\

So unless I am missing something, the ability to edit existing codes works perfect but adding new games and codes still has an issue.
