No you would not be able to. You only need the flasher to flash your patched bios to allow for factory service mode downgrade.
If you enter FSM, you will be stuck. Even if you successfully downgraded to 4.20 in FSM. You would not be able to exit. You need to be on 3.55 to exit.

No. It is a mode to service the PS3. Like remarry the blu-ray drive or install firmware.

Yes they should work. Unless you have used that account on 2 ps3's already.

Have you even tried reinstalling via recovery menu? Afaik a spoof doesn't apply there. (Wonder how they made a spoof for 4.xx though)

He's on Kiosk firmware and the latest Kiosk firmware is 4.23 so right now he cant convert to retail firmware because there isn't a retail firmware higher than 4.21 yet.

Wow, that sucks.
Well, the PS3 isn't completely screwed I think, you just need to wait until Sony releases a 4.23+ FW, patch it with kiosk-to-retail and install it via recovery mode.

Yeah thats all he needs to do. They have already made 4.23 retail firmware but not released it. So that's some good news for him that he'll be able to convert back.
