If one wants to really rip a ps2 game and is worrying about all the copyright protections etc, I can thing of one way to do it and that is to use the PS2 itself. Software like USB extreme etc are all free and have a feature to rip games to the HDD, from that HDD you can then extract it as an iso on the computer. There may also be a network type of ripping method similar to what the Wii has (I'm sure there has to be).

I usually just pop the disc in my computer and rip it that way.
