The QA flag is set in Syscon, not NOR or NAND flash. Syscon has an internal EEPROM.

I recall reading here somewhere that if you're QA flagged, you won't brick going back to CEX, but this simply isn't true; my NOR PS3 is QA flagged, and I ylod bricked going back to CEX.

But does QA flagged reduce the chances of bricking? How did you bricked? Did you manage to recover your PS?

Well, if it does reduce the chance of bricking, it didn't for me
TBH, I think I bricked because I wrote my CEX dump back with dd in linux, after having gone up to 4.11DEX and downgrading back. And yeah, I bought an E3 flasher and (after I got the stupid clip working) it was simple to unbrick.

i think you have bricked cause of the linux dd... and not only qa-flagging is the key its the combination of qa-flagging and the dehashing process..

dehashing is described in the ps3devwiki... i tihink you need both to really make it safe...

btw.. got my used slim CECH2004 and also my E3 Limited arrived...
have build it in and will test the first bios backup later when my microsd comes... i hope i have fixed the nor-clip right.

have to say it again:

dont cex2dex on NANDs.. there is no safe way back for now... (only if you have a hardware-flasher)

on NORs the minimum you need to fix the semi-bricks that may come on the way back is a hardware-dongle for FSM...

if you dont knw what FSM, NOR is... do not test this process.... it could damage your PS3 permanently...

May i ask why you guys want to return to CEX in the first place?

Is it because of the missing bluray, or is it something else you dont like about DEX?
