HELP deep in the **** downgrade nightmare!! downgraded from 3.55 cfw kmeaw to modded 3.41 fw then tryed to downgrade to 3.40 modded fw got no apps game folder on xmb to use factoryservicemode.gnpdrm.pkg oh and I have exited fsm. I have got psgrade on ipod mini 2g but forum says its for 3.41 or 3.50 fw and the modded 3.41 fw on ps3 is 3.56 modded to 3.41 fw. will the ipod mini 2g work or can I use mfw 3.56cfw to get apps game folder on xmb and carry on downgrading don't know what to do any help really appreciated

Just update back to 3.41 or 3.55 original firmware and then start again simple.

Sorry did not see that you were on 3.56 scratch what I just said. Hopefully some one will help you out.

DOWNGRADING FROM 3.55 TO MODDED 3.41.

DOWNLOAD PART 1..
PSGrade hex for all boards
Downgrade File's 3.55-Modded 3.41

You will need a Jail break device (Dev board) Or a PSDowngrader/Clone that can put your PS3 into service mode. So if you aleady have one, load the PSGrade hex file for you board on to it & proceed to step 1).

1) Unplug or switch off your console and then switch back on or plug back in.

2) While still OFF connect your Jailbreak/Downgrade device and press POWER then quickly Eject, your PS3 console should turn itself off automatically (Some time's it stay's on & doesnt tturn off, Just wait 30-40 seconds untill the dashboard has loaded & then manually turn the PS3 off).

3) OPTIONAL - Turn your PS3 on to verify you are in Service Mode (you will see a big red box, you can't miss it) then turn your PS3 back OFF.

4) Place the lv2diag.self (FILE 1) from the archive and the PS3UPDAT.PUP (3.41 FW) from the archive on the root of a USB device and plug into the rightmost port on your console (dev_usb0)

5) Power on your PS3 with the usb device in and have and leave it downgrade, it can take a few moments for the PUP to install, your PS3 will turn off automatically. DONT TOUCH OR TURN OFF YOUR PS3 AT THIS POINT!

NOTE: if your system seems unresponsive and the light just stays green for ten minutes or more you need to use a different usb stick. i've had sporadic results with several different sticks.

6) Once the PS3 has turned it self off, Power the ps3 back on, you should still be in service mode, check your FW version now to verify you have downgraded successfully. Then turn Off.

7) Remove previous archive files from usb stick (Everything that was on the USB) and now place lv2diag.self (FILE 2) on the root of your usb stick.

8) Place usb stick in rightmost port of your PS3 (dev_usb0)

9) Turn PS3 back on with usb in place, it should turn itself off very shortly after.

10) Remove USB stick & turn your PS3 back on and go through the configuration again.

Done. Downgraded from 3.55 to Modded 3.41 :D

UPDATING FROM 3.40 TO OFFICIAL 3.41

DOWNLOAD PART 3..
Official 3.41 FW update

All that you need for this part is a USB stick & the Official 3.41 FW update.

1) Delete everything on your USB stick.

2) Make these folder's on your USB stick = PS3 Then inside it make a folder UPDATE. USB:\PS3\UPDATE\

3) Place the 3.41 PS3UPDAT.PUP (from PS3_FW_341.rar) inside the UPDATE folder. USB:\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP

4) Turn on your PS3 & put in your USB stick (with update) & go to System Setting, Then go to System Update.

5) Select option "Update via Storage Media" & the system will automatically search and find the update data saved on the USB stick.

6) Once its found your update, hit X / OK to start the update.

7) The PS3 will now scan for the update & resart your PS3, Then turn it self back on & proceed to install the update 3.41. Make sure to follow on screen instructions.

Done. Updated from 3.40 to Official 3.41

That doesn't tell me how you updated.
Anyway if you are on 3.56 right now you need a flasher to downgrade again.

EDIT : Tried to decipher your first post again, did you mean you used the 3.41 (3.56) downgrader PUP?
If you go to system settings > system information, what firmware does it say you have?

system settings > system information says 3.41 yes modded 3.41 update pup but it says 3.56 on other menu when you turn off ps3 then 2 beeps and plug in controller

Hmm, then it must be the downgrader PUP, but I've never tried to go into recovery mode with it so I'm not sure if the fact it asks for 3.56 is normal or not.

However, if I understood correctly, you downgraded from 3.55 to this firmware via service mode, then exited service mode, and that's where you're stuck, right?

If you are on 3.41 then Update to 3.55 and then Downgrade using QA flag to 3.40 or below :P

After installing the downgrader 3.41/3.56 pup you were supposed to stay in service mode and immediately install ofw 3.41.

Since you exited service mode before installing 3.41 ofw then you can try to re enter service mode and install 3.41 ofw.

If that does not work then you will need a hardware flasher to get back to 3.41 cfw.

What ever you do DO NOT INSTALL the jfw 3.56. You will have even more problems than you have now.
