The drive hasn't been initialised on the PC yet.

Move the games to the PS3 internal drive (or another drive) and then set up as a new drive on the PC.

Once the drive has been initialised, format it to fat32 for use on the PS3 again.

Stupid question:

If he hadn't already formatted it to FAT32 how was he able to use it on the PS3?

Wouldnt a usb 3.0 HDD come formatted NTFS as standard? or un-formatted?

@DEFAULTDNB

Most external drives come pre-formatted, however, not all are recognised by a PC until after initialisation and a repartiton/reformat etc.

Also, some drives have hidden partitions which can also play up when connected to a PC (similar to flash drives).

The OP has no other option but to initialise the drive if he wants to access it on his PC.

He could just leave it connected to his PS3 and use FTP to transfer to his PC whilst it's attached.

Drivers can be an issue as stated. Uninstall, reboot and then reconnect the drive. If there is still no joy, then FTP to the PC and copy everything off and initialise the drive.

Yes it should behave like usb 2.0 storage device

So

what do i do?

If there was issue like non-compatibility

then my pc would not have shown it listed in disk drives

as what @JonahUK said you might have to initialize the drive. Back up the games before doing this as you'll need to format it.

I meant to say that hard disk is formatted and it has games on it.
working fine in ps3

So it must also work in pc without any hassle
I don't want to format it and erase all the games on it. If i go acc. to pic 2
the MBR will reformat it.

I don't know anything about FTP.
Never done it before.

Ok, I don't think you quite understand. The drive itself has drivers on it. Just because the PS3 can read and play games fine doesn't mean the PC will as well.

If you place a hard drive in a computer for the first time, it usually needs to be initialized and formatted. Forget that it's worked in the other guys pc. There is no way (I can think of) that you're going to get it working in your pc without initializing it and formatting it.

How big is your internal ps3 hard drive and the external? In multiman you can copy games across onto the internal HD but I fear its going to take quite a while. FTP will also take a while and because you're not sure how to do that I'd see if your friend still has all the games on his hard drive.

If he does you can initialize and format the external, and then take it back to him and copy the games on it again - if he doesnt you'll have to take it to him, copy the games back onto his pc (again hoping the hard drive doesnt need to be initialized) bringing it back to your pc, initializing it and then copying the games back on.

Also stop pirating, and go and buy your games.
