There is no way that is correct.

All PS3s that are bundled with a game, come with the firmware that game needs.

For example COD black ops needs 3.50. The COD black ops PS3 bundle comes with 3.50. Which is model #cech-25xx.

Uncharted 3 needs 3.72. So the Uncharted 3 bundle would normally come new with 3.72. That would be model# cech-30xx. Which you could not even downgrade, with a flasher.

But I would imagine if you bought a PS3 straight from Sony like that. It would come on the latest firmware. 4.21. model #cech-40xx. Also can not be jailbroken or downgraded.

It looks to me like Sony is trying to trick some people, with that ad.

LOL! What a scam Sony's running. Even Uncharted 3 doesn't make sense being there if the PS3 had 3.00 FW. Most likely has 4.21 FW.

It s not exactly true all the bundles come with the same FW the game require.
It s the case when it s not real bundle and it s seem the case here with that extra blue ray movie. A sticker can be put on the box to remain the game offer with. If it was not from Sony but from a shop, it ll sound classic sales operation to remove theirs stocks.


So it s most likely sound new model (from external aspect also) of ps3 will come like that rumors about 4K models said because after that Sony will not promote/sale theirs olds models.
It was the case when the ps3 slim appeared.

edit: so for me , it can be real and they are trying to sale before the new model come. The BR movie, it is recent one? ( because Uncharted 3 required 3.55+ FW but also this movie can required recent FW)
