Android on PS3 via OtherOS++
First, I'm not an Linux expert. I do use it from time to time, but not often. Sadly, I don't even have jailbroken PS3. So I'll most probably get bashed by everyone...
So, Linux 3.3 was released some time ago already. There were a couple of interesting commits, which included loads of Android code. Basically, it merged nearly everything which Android required to boot properly. Except power management - wakelocks, etc - which got merged with Linux 3.4 and 3.5. No plans to merge anything Android-related in 3.6, as far as I know. We can already run Linux on PS3 via OtherOS++, but distros aren't up to date with Linux kernels - most are still at 2.6. No idea whenever it would work with 3.5 kernel. But as far as I'm aware Android (Assuming 2.3, 4.0/4.1 needs quite a lot of RAM, and PS3 is very low on RAM - most devices have 512MB, while PS3 has 256MB for OS) should be running on this vanilla kernel without much hackery. Could anyone check whenever latest kernel works on PS3 OtherOS++? Last edited by Dragoon512; 08-12-2012 at 03:19 PM. Reason: Pressed Enter accidentally. Fail. |

Maybe you could try and compile newest kernel on ps3. Also what's the pont of android on ps3? Even if you got the source, apps won't work because of different architecture.
