So, i've stopped reading the scene for sometime(because i bought a new pc), in the beginning of the CEX-DEX method, and now that i'm back i've seen the progress and i'm thinking about applying it on my ps3. The problem is that since the last time i saw, the BD/DVD playback wasn't working, and i wanted to know if some DEX cfw have already implemented that, because i'd love to play Naruto Generations but i watch a lot of dvds and bds on my ps3, and i can't afford losing it, even if temporary.
Another question is if i can downgrade without dongles, i searched and some people say it does(the majority), but i heard that it's needed, so i want to confirm if there is no need of any downgrader dongle.

BD play-back still doesn't work on DEX.

A FSM dongle is required alongside a hardware flasher inorder to downgrade CEX from say 4.x back to 3.55 IF your console allows it. Use minvercheck in my sig if you aren't sure

Thanks for the answers, too bad the DEX fw still doesn't have playback support.
And about the downgrade, i meant DEX 4.x to DEX 3.55, and DEX 3.55 to CEX 3.55. But i searched and i found that DEX doesn't need any dongles to downgrade, but the DEX-to-CEX downgrade its still unclear(i dont think this is the right way to say it) for me

Well, i'm not familiar with showtime, i always prefered the ps3 built-in player, but the showtime runs bd and dvd without problems?

It runs just about everything. Just get AVI or MP4 OR MKV files of your BR and DVDs :3 Or you can turn your dvds into AVIs

Hm, fine, it would be better if they could release a cfw with bd playback build-in support because the ripping speed of the ps3 isn't that fast for a bd movie(10gb), but thanks, if i decide to turn my cex to dex i'll remember to download it.

I have another question, does the 4.1/4.2 Dex OFW have the drives for the Stereo Headset w/ Virtual Sorround? As far as i know they're in 3.7 CEX OFW but does the DEX update work with it?
