Ummm...
i will use the E3 linker as a downgrader only to extract the dump. i will compare the dumps from the E3 clip and the E3 linker and see the results although i know the clip sucks

regarding Donation: i already did it for the ps3dev wiki but i will donate more in the near future
thanx

(regarding the clip)
ah i see.
personaly i'm hoping i get better results from the clips (E3 and 360clips via prog) as it takes me ages soldering and checking each solder point when i do downgrades for ppl.
but i could end up sticking with the soldering if the clips dont hold up.

& hmm i would think the dumps would be the same but in the wikki HERE regarding hardware patching it says "Use these instead, otherwise you get into a maze of bytereversing:" so there must be a difference.

i'm doing the E3 as soon as i recive esata hdd cases. so i will see then. we can compaire notes

I always choose the soldering option it is more reliable to me although it takes too much time.
and thanx for updating your Guide

hi again;
regarding remove the R7 in the Nor Downgrade, i did not remove it since it will not affect any thing at all (no wire goes from/to the Progskeet 3.3V point), Since the PS3 will be powered through its PSU and the Prog will be powered through the USB, so no need to remove it.
regarding the NAND downgrade you mentioned that the R7 has to stay, because it will power the Y adapter if it does not receive enough power from the Progskeet USB.

please if you can elaborate regarding this point since it is confusing for many people here

i cannot remove this as some ppl will conect the 3.3v regardless. but with this resistor removed then neither the NOR or actmel chip will get destroyed by connecting the 3.3v wire.
so this way the guide is safer to use

where is this sentence as i cannot find it lol

i have made a change under (Attaching the ProgSkeet with the NAND clip)
------------------------------------------------------------------
conect the flat cables to the clip(s).

right now the progskeet can only read from the (A) side of the "Y" adaptor.
so you can only connect one clip at a time.

the one shown is the "TOP" "0 NAND chip"

you also need to conect the "3.3v" pad on the "Y" adaptor to the "3.3v" pad on the progskeet

this is done as we are not powering up the ps3 but using the progskeet to power the NAND chips------------------------------------------------------------------

Will,
i am trying to use the E3-Linker to dump the NOR and the dump went OK. i will put pictures here for the process.
the dump validation is fine and everything is according to your guide and PS3 Wiki.
But i extracted the Dump "ROS0" has 26 files and not 25 files max. "ROS1" has 24.
i checked the CoreOS page : http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/CoreOS
it says that the 3.56 will have 26 files, and yes the PS3 i am working on is on 3.56 and it can be downgraded to 3.5 (it is 3.56 from the factory CODE 0D)
Attached is the dump:
http://www.mediafire.com/?ab4kjg0arkdkqb8

just to make sure, 26 files in the ROS is OK?

bit late for a reply. sorry about that.
your looking deeper into the file system then what i do.
if the main files are there and the dump checks out ok then you dont need to look any deeper.

just upload your dump and ask at ps3downgrading (the link in the guide) to double check your dump and post your above question there as they have the knowlage to asnwer you.

i would have to research it.

and at the moment i'm doing the E3 guide and looking into the de-hash problem (long story)

ok guide is finaly done.

i have noticed the title says "progskeet NOR guide" when it should say "Ultimate Fool Proof Guide: Ps3 hardware downgrading"

right at the top ^ it says:-
"PS3Hax Network - Playstation 3 Hacks and Mods > PS3Hax > PS3 | Downgrading and Flashing > Progskeet NOR Guide "
