That is strange. Maybe go on irc and ask there. They will probably have a better idea of why it is not working.

very weird finding !!
I lost hope in de-bricking my console ,after visiting 2 technicians who claim that they failed to obtain a nor backup , so they can't contiune anymore !!

today ,I went to a proffessional guy , who de-bricked my console in less than 1 hour , without the need of NOR backup at all !! , he said that he'd only soldered that wire Nor tristate and SBE on Ribbon ..

and directly went to downgrade procedure , without the need of any dumps !!!!!!!! veryy weird ~~~ he succeeded !! and my console is now de-bricked !! , however no guide says this at all !!

Sorry for being such a nuisance, I keep trying for answers on the internet and everywhere but there seems no help to my queries. So I think best to get the answers here as all the instructions and guidance seems to help. I just bought a PS3 console without much Q&A. And I find out that my PS3 is on Version 3.66, the serial number is CECH 30088. I want to downgrade it or if there is any way to back-up my game and play downloaded game with the OFW that came with the console. I want to play downloaded game and back up my game to the console and in doing so I don't want to void my warranty, is there a way for such? Or if there is going to be any new firmware to mod the 3.66 or above in the near future. I heard that within the next 20/25 days there will be something for these versions higher than 3.55. I want to know if it is true. Thanks in advance.

Your best bet would be to sell the 3000 series PS3, since it is unhackable and not downgradable. Then buy a ps3 on 3.55 or lower. Or at least one that is downgradable. But downgrading requires opening the console. And will void any warranty.

I have a question on the update.bin file from the 'Downgrade any file pack'

I was wondering, when you said:
"...2. Put the e3 10-28 update.bin file onto the root of your sd card.
(I use this update.bin to update the flasher, because it will allow you to flash multiple ps3's. Feel free to use a newer update, if you plan on leaving the flasher installed and dual booting.) take the sd card and insert into the slot on the flasher..."

What exactly do you mean?
I was hopping to JB my PS3 and install CFW 3.55, and then take the E3 flasher off/out my PS3.
Do I still use the 'update.bin' file you recommend in the file pac, or should I use a newer one?
*I'm not going to dual-boot, just install an English patch for an imported game (ToV]*

Info (FAT PS3):
Motherboard#: DIA-002
PS3 model: CECHK01
OFW: v4.11

I'm having trouble with getting a good NOR dump (using 'E3 Nor Dump Checker V1.0.exe'), or I just get the error:
"..."start logging...backup PS3 BIOS.fail to initialize E3 Nor...."

My PS3 seams to jump back and forth between these two after I put it together again form trying to reseat(sp?) the E3 cover on the chip/motherboard
*I already shaved the side that the diods interfere with so all sides are flush to motherboard, but still one of these two errors keep happening.*

Just use the update.bin from the dowgrade any pack......this allows you to reuse the flasher on another console.

When it says "start logging...backup PS3 BIOS.fail to initialize E3 Nor...." it means your clip is not seated right.

Also, don't trust the E3 Nor Dump Checker V1.0 because it misses a lot of errors......instead use Flowrebuilder and extract the dump to see if everything is in there and in order.

After extraction you should have:

Extracted flash content files

Flowrebuilder extraction no error

Flowrebuilder extraction error

(make sure they are all there, flowrebuilder will not give warning when it fails!):
bootloader_0
bootloader_1 (NAND only)
cCSD
cISD
creserved_0 (NAND only)
cvtrm
eEID
trvk_pkg
trvk_prg
\asecure_loader\metldr
\ros\[two seperate folders named to FW version]\CoreOS files (19 up to 25 files, depending the FW version)
There are other checks that you can do to verify you flash dump and all info that you need can be found here > http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/Validating_flash_dumps
