I believe there might something like God, but not what we have made up, nor the rules we have made up. Why would a God that wants us to be fully obedient let us have free will? That little part confuses me most.

There are those who believe that God is like your Father. He created all beings and loves everyone of them just as you created your own children and love them. Now, when your children were not yet adults you gave them rules which you expect they will live by, but you also know that they will fail time and again to live up to all of your expectations. Its just a fact of life that humans test the boundaries of limits especially as children so they are destined to fail. This doesnt make you as a Father love them any less. You want to set forth the rules that you believe best suit your child to keep them safe now and in the future and you hope that they will grow up to follow and pass on the rules to their children, but you want them to do so of their own free will...........in doing so it acknowledges that the rules first set forth by the Father were just and correct.

Nodrm is pretty god like these days. On a serious note, religion is definitely to control to the masses. The great powers that be want people to believe in religion because it helps them.. The idea is that they cant control everyone like they would like, so if people think there is an all watching eye in the sky, people will behave and follow the rules, or god will know.chruches are even more of a joke. I have done work for a lot of churches in my line of work, and they are a business above everything else. Full of self ritous hypocrites. Religion has single handedly killed more people than any other thing on this earth. People have killed in the name of "god" since the beginning and we continue today. Just sad.

God is something that is made up to make people do what someone else want them to do. If I think of a rule or guideline I want the masses to follow, I will just right another new testament or implement it into my religion and then everyone will follow it, and the ones that don't, I will imprison or kill them or god will be disappointed in them.

I dont necessarily believe the origin of religion was specifically created to keep the masses in place as I do in its ability to calm the fear of the unknown. Like I said previously, in the absence of answers man has always manufactured an answer because we are rational beings and need to understand the unknown so that we dont fear it.

Our origin is the ultimate unanswerable question.

Well everytime science tries to suggest an answer or finds some proof of what may have happened they are slammed down. Why do you think that is? They want people to believe in this "higher being" watching there every move and judging them in the end of all things, so be good or its a one way ticket to a very hot place
