Sorry for the long absent reply, been having trouble getting my new Steam games to play properly, but now they all do.
So many games...can't choose what to play first!

I don't know exactly what NOR is, but I'm guessing it has something to with hardware and flash/motherboard ability, something I must know when jb my PS3.

OK, It looks like I'll get/use E3 Flasher since it's solderless.
Is there only one site that sells it, or do different sites sale the item? I ask because I can't find only one site, and since I don't know what this E3 Flasher is suppose to look like, I don't know if I'm going to get the right item or not.
*If possible, a site in English please, since I can't read/write/say any other language.*

I do know I'll have to wait till my next paycheck to get this E3 flasher item, but all I know is from the name, it sounds like software on a USB device, special made I take it.



I also noticed the PS3 Scene Status has changed, and how shows up to v4.20 (my PS3 is v4.11) can be jb That's great, I still need to get this E3 Flasher, that's the very first things I should do/get, right?

BTW: I might, and I use the tern loosely here,might, be able to get my friends PS3. He only uses it to play DVDs and a few games, but never really bothered to upgrade firmware much.

So, if I get that and the firmware is at or lower then v3.55, would getting that jb and work easier then trying to downgrade and jb mine?

I checked the one available on Lightake.com ($34.99, lowest price), but 2 things bother me on it.
One: It looks to be only a 2.5 inch SATA HDD docking station, no chip or anything, just an external device to power on the SATA HDD, that's all need?
Won't my external HDD case I already have for my 2nd 2.5 inch SATA HDD work instead, or does this come with something there not saying, or something?
Two: The power plug to go into the wall is not USA, so don't know how to, if even possible, to plug into wall and power it up.
*a thought accured(sp?) to me right before I posted this: Is the reason for having the docking station have to do with the chip and the ability to flash/downgrade the PS3 firmware?*

It's $88.95 (wow expensive) and it talks about can only handle NOR at the moment, I have NOR so that's good.
BUT, I see 2 problems with it also:
One: They say "...<i>For the FAT PS3 you WILL require soldering!* As well, the plug that they include with the sata dock is not North American</i>...."

I was told that I didn't need to solder, or did I mis-read?

Mine is model 'CECHK01' / board: DIA-002, 16MB NOR, Minimal downgrade v2.16, but what column do I need to look at, or does only the NOR and minimal downgrade column the only ones I need to look at?

Sorry for the so many questions, but if I do get it, I appear I will only have one chance to install/use the chip and this is a lot of money for me so I want to be careful.

If anyone wants to know about my friends PS3 he game me:
It had firmware v4.00 on it, so I'm just going to use that as my internet PS3 and use my original PS3 (Model #: CECHK01) as my PS3 I want to downgrade/JB.


So My Questions are two-fold:
1 - Is this the only thing I need to buy to downgrade/JB my PS3?

If you did get the E3 Flasher, You should read up on the tutorials for it to ensure a proper setup. You actually be able to dual boot 4.21 OFW and 3.55 CFW Kmeaw.

@John135 I think the one you are looking at is just the sata station. You need the e3 flasher and solderless clip. You don't HAVE to have the sata station, unless you are going to dual boot or leave the flasher installed. If you are just going to downgrade then use your regular 2.5 sata hard drive in the console then you don't need the sata drive. If you are looking in USA, go to www.modchipcentral.com. Buy either the e3 nor flasher if you don't want the har drive docking station, or get the 3k limited if you do want the station. Oh, by the way, the e3 never comes with an American plug for the sata station, so you would have to buy a power converter. 7$ at RadioShack.

Dual-booting, only tried it once on my PC, never got it to work.
Does that mean, if I get it working, I can boot up to official firmware and use it on the net, but if I want to play my English patched game I just dual-boot into the other part of the HDD and can play no trouble?
That would be perfect for me! Assuming I can get it to work correctly, without messing up.

@John135 that is correct. If you get the 3k limited and the e3 card reader and you already have a micro sd card and a regular USB stick then you are good to go. Like I said before, you can buy the e3 nor downgrader, but it won't comes with all the extra stuff like the slim on/off switch or the sata station for the hard drive. I choose the 3k limited because I wanted everything, but the only thing you NEED is the e3 nor downgrader if you don't plan on dual booting, because you need a sata station for dual booting.

Ugg, sorry I'm NOT going to Radio(Rat)Shack ever (several bad experiences).
So what do I need to look online for to get this power adapter, what's it called?
I don't think 'power adapter' will work, Does Newegg.com or ebay.com have one?


Afterthought:I need something that converts the plug/pins AND power to US current/power/style, right?

@John135 that would work but I am partial to a plug more like this www.world-import.com/WSS417.htm . It will allow you to plug in any type of plug to USA power. Mine as well get a universal one since you are getting one. Also it gives you a ground which is a good thing.
