On past few days I've come to many new article about new Final Fantasy game that was announced recently. It looks like this game will be called Final Fantasy XIII Lightning Returns. Or we could call it Final Fantasy XIII-3. It is going to arrive somewhere in 2013, and this time Lightning will be 'solo playable character in open free world.' This actually sounds pretty exiting and open free world sounds promising. But Final Fantasy game, and only 1 playable character ? I don't think I like that. What I liked in past Final Fantasy games was a many characters with many different personalities and you grove to like them. And you can customize her looks, armours and whatever. This doesn't sound like FF to me. I played and enjoyed Final Fantasy XIII. (but not as much as previous FF games) but when I played FF XIII-2 I wasn't very impressed. I think this XIII series is kinda lost track of story and it looks very messy to me. But I hope this new game will bring this series in its rightful place. But, I would like to see new Final Fantasy games with new characters and new feeling. Like older more darker FF games.

There is a saying "never change a winning team", and that was exactly what they did. Everybody loved the charismatic characters and good stories, but that ended with the FF-XII (someone liked Vaan as a character?).

The production of XIII series is impressive, but the game itself is boring and the characters unconvincing. My impressions of FFXIII and XIII-2:



Still, I know I'll play every Final Fantasy game to be released, even if just to enjoy the production values

I played ff XIII and think it was a good game but I have a few things that I really didn't like. The AI of the combat controls 95% of the battle. You cant control the other 2 chars. and if the main char dies it is game over.
The potencial of this game was really big but in the end it felt like a 60 hours movie.

Yeah, I got a pretty much the same impression, and I agree with Vannila's and Fang's statement

Having Lightning be the only character and moving the battle system to a more interactive one where you can move around already starts to sound less of Final Fantasy game and more like an action/adventure. The idea of four islands is cool, but having Lightning years into the future after FFXIII-2 sorta kills off the previous characters unless they someone manage to time travel, but nothing of that nature was mentioned. As it's a Final Fantasy game I will buy and play it like I have for the other "main series" games (excluding the Online games). I'm a huge Final Fantasy fan and own every game in the series including the FF2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 Famicom/Super Famicom carts. So I can safely say I'm looking forward to this game.

Yeah, I also thought that battle system is too automatic. But production of the game was massive !

If next "chapter" will be something like FF:Crisis Core - i will definetly play it. I just hope they won't mess up with something else again. Square desperatly needs new plot writers, last time all that many-ending thing was terrible.

Meh open and free world? I'll wait for Final Fantasy Versus 13 to experience that. The first 2 FF13 were both the same style I would feel weird if suddenly it changed.
