Ok so there was me thinking, what's the point? And then I see the reference to the original disc only needing to be verified once, and from then on no disc Is required.

That caught my interest so I have my rips now Devolution just needs the disc on the first launch and never again?

Dios mios works great but it's good to have a choice, any clarification would be great.

And where's the wii/u section at?

You are absolutely right.

Insert the game, rip it with clean rip, load it with Devo, devo will flash 2 times asking you to verify the disc, verify the disc once by reinserting the original (wii will flash 5 times), and devo writes a *.dvv file to your storage device (HDD), game will load and you never need to verify again.

For games with streaming audio, leave the disc in and it will stream audio off the original, but load the game off your storage device (HDD)

We need a Nintendo section....

Talking

So I check this site fairly regularly for news related to my other console and when googling info about devolution I come across this thread!

So now that the shock and awe is subsiding, one feature I was really looking forward to was wii peripheral support. To be exact, it would be great to be able to use a classic controller (pro). CFGUSBLoader already downloaded the app so I have it. Just can't really do much with it yet...

DefaultDNB, what would you say the odds are of coming up with a way to fool this disc check?
Like if I had to rent a game or borrow some games from a friend I could get away with that in some cases. There is one game in particular that seems to no longer exist in my area: Skies Of Arcadia Legends. I really would like the g/f to play it but I doubt I could convince her to fight with the wii emulator on pc that I have. I'd totally jump on DML (modified cfgusbloader has full support for it) if it had wii periphereal support and memory card emulation.

Also do we have any confirmation on that wii U IOS thing?
Thinkin bout buyin one around launch but I have quite a nice HDD for my Wii that I'd hate to see go to waste.

Anyway, adding this thread to my list of news sites I check daily-ish. Would love to see that wii peripheral support more than anything. (though bypassing that dvv check would be nice too...)

Not much chance I think the DVV is tied to the wii serial/drive serial/timestamp/disc its quite hard to dupe.

Like if I had to rent a game or borrow some games from a friend I could get away with that in some cases. Rent/borrow/buy the game, verify it once: you never need it again.... sell it on/give it back.

Buy the games you love, no matter the cost, time or hassle getting it.

Nothing solid yet, but inorder for WiiU to be a BC console with Wii, it must run IOS based system. I know Tueidj said it should be possible to port Wii HB to WiiU provided an exploit is found

Anyway, adding this thread to my list of news sites I check daily-ish. Would love to see that wii peripheral support more than anything. (though bypassing that dvv check would be nice too...)
Nice to know people are checking this thread
Hope this helps, sorry I missed it, I have been away for a while.

Yes that was helpful. Thank you!
Well that blows about the DVV files and screws people who bought newer wiis.
Makes sense about the Wii U being backwards compatible.

I guess once the person adds classic controller support I'll start tracking down these Gamecube games.

Thanks again.

Devolution has been built into CFG usb loader for a while now, that's the only usb loader I can comment on. I'll have to see how it works, I've been trying out the DIOS MIOS lite, and mostly play GC games from disc since my Wii reads burnt discs.

here is a compatibility list for devolution, just so you don't try to load non-working games.

You should let us know if Dev will work off burnt GC discs ( I don't think anyone mentioned this yet...)
