psx-scene.com is where these memory card exploits originated and adding apps is very simple. I have a "phat" ps2 with a 2TB HDD (the max you can go). I don't care for it's networking capabilities as it's cumbersome (SMS) media player isn't that great.

I would go with Western Digital. Can't beat their quality and there are only two choices for 3.5" hdds these days, WD or Seagate. Its a duopoly.

Internal SATA -> IDE using the Network Adapter. I'd never use a USB drive for the PS2 as they are way too slow. If you do say goodbye to FMV. I believe it's a Samsung 2TB 5200 RPM 32MB cache, but I'm not exactly sure and due to the addition of the SATA -> IDE conversion board it would take more effort then it's worth to tell you the exact model and specifications as it's now a ***** to open.

Hey guys. I followed this tut on getting free mcboot on my ps2. I did it with agent under fire. I succeed in doing it, but for some reason it doesn't have esr or SMS or hd loader or any of the other programs installed with it. I got the newest version of free mcboot 1.8 and I extracted it to the root of a USB. I also put esr.elf and some others on the root with it, but they don't show up. I get e free mcboot screen, but it just has the system config. And launch disk. Any idea what I did wrong or what I need to do to get esr and the other cool programs? Thanks @MagicMaster

Update...I found a noobie guide to adding apps to free mcboot. I may be able to figure it out on my own. If anyone feels like helping, please do. If not, I think I can read and get it. Thanks

Its because you didn't get the newbie pack, just look up how to install apps and do it manually.
