misaki0721 is correct, essentially all you need to do is update it with an OFW.
Formatting and ninja'ing just makes the console clean for future use on PSN. I would follow @Annelies guide if it were me

Trade with someone using a official firmware. Lots of people really want a jailbroken system.
Other than that you can just update with latest PS3 game disc.
