You should read up on the pros and the cons. There is no easy answer to that question. The only thing I can say is that I converted to dex when the method was leaked, and I havn't regreted it for one minute. Especially sinds the latest developments. it's a tricky process, but if you follow the tuts by the letter you should be fine.

This is what I'd like to know too. This site's been amazingly useless actually explaining the benefits of going to DEX.

Not all of us pay constant attention to every development. Searching its benefits has revealed (what I know to be) way out of date information, claiming no backup use etc. I know some of you are booting backups via a bdemu. Can someone just post and update a sticky someplace and keep us in the loop? We'll be thankful!

Ok the benefits are;
Play original games from disk.
Being able to go up and down between firmwares at will.
Having a firmware like rebug but with all the debug options working.
Playing backups from usb using ps3gen bdemu, if the game has an official update from sony.
Playing backups that are on your pc trough app home/ using a LAN connection and sometging callef mmDM on your pc.

Main downpoints:
No psn/sen whatsoever.
No blueray disk playback (but showtime works on all dex firmwares including 4.21.
Thats it in a nutshell.

No problem glad I could help.
I do recommend that you do a little reading on the subject because the process of converting to dex is risky.
If you follow all the steps correctly no problem, but if you miss one you might end up with a brick. So my advice is be carefull and informed before proceeding.

Oh yes allmost forgot.
You can play backup the old fashioned way if you're on DEX 3.55 with peek/poke

I'm cool doing the process I've been modding and homebrewing for four console generations now. Appreciate the concern!
