You could have just bought a 1TB hdd, or you can also use external hdd with the CFW

I really don't think its possible to dual boot two different CFW.

Unless you keep the two hdd's on the same firmware, and then just swap them when booting. Are you using the Esata Station to boot the hdd.
So then its not dual booting, but just swapping hdd's.

Well then you should be able to use a another hdd with same firmware.

It will ask you probably to press Select + Start when you boot up with new hdd.
Have your TB CFW v2 on the USB drive

And then if they are the same, you should just be able to swap the hdd and boot up.

I know on my one PS3 that I upgraded to a larger firmware, I was still able to boot up with the previous smaller hdd, being they were both on the same firmware.

But as I said , if you want to wait for someone else to chime in before you try it, that may be best.
