I was wondering if anyone can recommend me some good JRPG for PS3. I only played Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XIII-2. Al thou games were OK, they weren't what I was expecting. When I look back at PS1, it had amazing JRPG's like Xenogears,Vagrant Story, Chrono Cross, Chrono Trigger, FF7,FF8,FF9...
And PS2 had some pretty good JRPG's. I was hoping PS3 would be more or less same and that's the major reason I bought it, but I think that PS3 isn't RPG machine.
I would appreciate anything you recommend me and I will definitely check it out.

There are a lot of good ones but there are not anymore the best/biggest games on the console:

Atelier Meruru, Rorona or Torotori (all of them are fixed for 3.55, US or JP version) and Atelier Ayesha (for dex)

Valkyria Chronicles + DLC fixed (my advice is this one because it still Japanese way but not too much specific)

Serie of:Tales of (there are also fews, probably more about what you expect from JRPG but don t like so much, didn t play so much also) but in general US or UE people like it.

Eternal Sonata or End of eternity (don t remember the US name) are old but good to go also.

Trinity Universe is not good but not bad, but may be a little too much Japanese way.

Enchanted Arms was not good for me, same as Agarest or Disgea ( didn t tested them so much i admit)

Only in Japanese right now it can be nice for you to try Ni no Kuni (this one is the advice N1 for everyone but will be release in US : January 2013)

There are others not so much Japanese in the idea of what is JRPG such Demons souls, or Dark souls, dragon dogma but famous to be good.

I didn t mention titles who can be classify as RPG but either too much specifics or disturbed or only in Japanese (and no future release in English).

IMO, PS3 not being an RPG machine is untrue. It may be true that the quality of games has been degrading these last few years, but for the current generation, it's THE console to have for JRPGs. Sure there are a few on 360 and wii, but the vast majority are PS3 exclusives.

I haven't played many on PS3, but all the games mentioned by @Ada Love Lace are worth looking into (I've at least heard good stuff from all of them).
I liked Tales games myself, there are currently 3 on PS3, only one of them is in English (Graces f), there's also Xillia that will be released in English in 2013, and finally Vesperia that's a port from the 360 version that will most likely never be localized, which is a shame since it has a lot of content (I played it on 360, then got the PS3 version recently to get all the extra stuff they added to it, which is A LOT, and I feel it was worth the buy). There's a fan translation project for this one though (albeit incomplete), if your PS3 is on CFW you might want to check it out :

Overall they are, while far from perfect, great games IMO.

I've also played Star Ocean : The last hope, which was pretty good (plot was alright, battle system pretty interesting, also had quite a bit of content).

EDIT : You may feel that PS3 isn't an RPG console due to the lack of titles. Unfortunately, a lot of good titles don't make it out of Japan due to JRPGs not being so popular here (in the West, people only know of Final Fantasy), which I know is a shame. But while scarce, there IS stuff released over here from time to time.

valkyria chronicles is a great strategy/rpg

white knight chronicles 1 is decent and a little boring

dragon's dogma is also a good action/rpg

hyper dimension neptuna mk2: within the 30 min i switch it off

nier is also an nice action rpg

tales of graces :i'm playing it right now for around 40 hours,
not als good as older tales games,but the battle system is on of the best in tales games in my opinion.

disgae 4 laying for 4 hours,its nice and the story is funny

then you have the atelier series but i haven't played it yet.

Oh, I see. Yeah, I played it on PS3 and it did have Japanese audio option.

Thank you very much for your suggestions, I checked trailers and gameplay of every game, and I think I'll try out Valkyria Chronicles and Eternal Sonata. Yeah and I wanted for so long to check out some disgaea games for PS3, I played disgaea hour of darkness back on PS2, and that game was very fun. And I came across Ni no Kuni and was so disappointed that game was only JP, but if it is going to be released in English I will definitely check it out. (maybe this will sound stupid but I sometimes want to learn Japanese so I can play games that we never get here. xD )
