i dont know where to start ive been through a lot of bs...so fom the top i bought a motherboard off ebay...its a cechg01...i do not have a matching blueray player for it...I got the motherboard and had to wait for a power supply bc i thought a cechk power supply would work (def didnt) so i got the power supply fired it up in recovery and tried to format my hdd with restore ps3 system...It wouldnt format..So i tried to update the firmware to 3.55 (it was on 3.40) that didnt work i kept getting an error code..I figured it was bc i didnt have a blueray player for it so i made a 3.55cfw with mfw builder to patch the installation of blueray fw..i also added othe os so it would have to format the hdd to make a partion for the other os (mainly to get the hdd to format) It worked and formated the ps3 but got stuck in a recovery loop trying to install 3.55...so i reformated my hdd in another ps3 and tried it again with the same pup i had made after checking and rechecking all my ribbions. It wouldnt find or even format the hdd...So i finally decided i would try to install 4.21 ofw and cancel the installation after it formated the hdd..I did thatand tried installig 3.55ofw and it worked...then i installed 3.55rebugv2...My problem now is that when i go to install the rebug update or any package it installs to the game category but when i click on the application it just freezes at a black screen and doesnt give me the option to choose yes or no...I am really really frustrated at this point and dont know what else i can do...Is there anything i can do or better yet has this ever happend to any1...This motherboard has givvng me nothing but problems since i got it..Im really just hoping this is an easy fix pease help me out it would be greatly appreciated

Haha i went through the same garbage story in terms. I started out with a Ps3 that said hard disk invalid when i tried to start it. I found some crazy guy on youtube that told me to stack pennies on the GPU. So crazy enough that worked then the ps3 started up just fine. I tried to update it to 3.55 it was on 3.2X. That didnt work at all got an error everytime i tried to do that. I went through all the secret menu garbage until finally i got the 3.55 to install through that. Then when my ps3 came on i installed rebug everything worked fine. Till i ended up in your situation where i could not start any package files. The ps3 would go to black screen and then it would sit like then until i force shut it off. Same deal. I came to the conclusion of course it was the stupid blu-ray player. I think the only way to fix that is to have the blu-ray that was originally married to the motherboard. Not sure if anyone knows how to remarry on a higher firmware yet. Remarrying can be done in like the low 2.XX's i believe if i remember right. I couldnt do anything because i didnt have the original blu-ray. So sorry about the bad news but after weeks of experimenting i couldnt figure it out. You're in the right place though if anyone knows how to do it they will be here.

You MUST have a married BR drive for applications to work. Once the ribbons etc fit into it, you can re-marry it (I took a CECHC BR drive and put it into CECHK and it worked fine). The laser can be dead etc, so long as just the logic board is connected and working, that's all that matters.

Downgrading from 3.55 is really easy, so don't let that put you off re-marrying.

dang that really sucks im bummed right about now...do you think youcould point towards the direction of what i need to do to remarry i have a e3 but i need to buy a nand clip and 3e linker for it so i would be able to go to a lower fw but i wouldnt know how to remarry the blueray thanks for the quick reply ive been messing with this thing for way too long

You can't run .pkg or game bbackups without a bd drive board unless you use bedemu. If you need a disk drive I have several from a checha01 that I am pretty sure work on a chechg01. You would have to remarry them to your board obviously. Let me know.

If you are on 3.55 you can downgrade without e3 using fsm AFAIK

nice afaik what exactly is that...is it a dongle i have a cobra but man i dont want to get started on that too many problems...i have tried so many tgings to get it to install the drivers

You defo don't need E3 (won't work with NAND anyway, only NOR). FSM is all you'd need to downgrade and you can do that with Cobra.

You can just buy a logic board from Ebay and use that or get a whole working drive to have full compatibility with games.

AFAIK = as far as I know

I'm 99% sure it will, the BMD001 is what I re-married to my CECHK which had a BMD006 originally. It depends on if the drive is SATA or PATA and I think the slim drives are SATA the phats are PATA.
