Help me choose a brand new ps3 on ofw 3.55

Hy.

I did some research on videos games store to see if i can found ps3 on 3.55 (or less) firmware.

I found two bundles :

ps3 fat 80 giga with little big planet 1 : 200 euros

ps3 slim 320 giga with little big planet 2 : 280 euros

I prefer to take the one with the little price but i am afraid of the time i can play before they have a ylod.
I really don't care about the size of the hdd, i just want something who cant resist 3 or 4 years.

What is the best bundle ?
The slim can't have ylod ?

Thanks.

Slim: will last longer

Phats are old even when you buy them (technically) but they have miles left on their proverbial clocks).

Slims run cooler, so its a no brainer. Slims are less likely to YLOD, but it is always possible that it could in the long run.

80 Gb internal for a PS3 with CFW is way to small, within a month you regret that small HDD because especially the games with big files (>4 Gb) have to be on the internal disk. A game like Gods of War is around 40 Gb, you can't even have 2 of those games installed on a 80 Gb HDD

Absolutely right, but he doesnt care about hdd size ... he should if he wants it to last 3-4 years...

He could always upgrade the hdd anyway, but he SHOULD kick himself for not getting the slim... if he chooses the fatty-boom-boom.

Thanks for the quick answer, i go to the store tomorrow.(so that's cool)
Yeah, you're both right.
I don't care about the size because i'm not the type of guy who play 10 or 15 games at the same time. I play 2 or 3 games at the same time, never more (sometimes one by one).
I think i will go with the slim because i'm too afraid of the ylod.

My only last fear is to not find a ofw 3.55 so i'm a little stressed.
(even if all the research on the internet say that bundle come with an ofw3.55)

Check the date code/sku on the box before even opening it against these charts: http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/SKU_Models#PS3_Slim

For example the box I have upstairs for my 320gb slim says CECH-2503B =
CECH-25..B 0x0B JTP-001 1x 16MB NOR 250GB
or
320GB Yes No No No Yes 45nm 40nm 80/250 2 No 7/2010 3.40 3.40

OoZic.
Thanks for everything.
I have bought a 320gb slim. (thanks to deank & kamel for the tools & tutorials)

I have juste a few questions about the utilisation of the ps3

how much time i must play for it to last longer (for exemple,i play 45 minutes and i let it off 15 minutes)

are edat dangerous for the console (i just start noticed a lot of psn games have them) ?

There is no exact science for that. Because it also depends on the temperature and humidity in you room. I got my slim for more then 2 year now and it has been on for days on end even on hot days. But it is not so humid here. My record is six day straight. Not that I am proud of it but I´m just telling you. Its important that you have proper air circulation around the PS3. Dont stuff it away in a small closet.
