Strangely 3DS is still unhackable. I wouldn't have minded if it wouldn't ever be hacked but I do because 3DS is region-locked.

*never release anything or it will be fixed!!!* - corrupted logic and one of many excuses not to release anything for public.
--not "never" - but once a decent amount of exploitable consoles are for sale.. release now and a tiny number will have the exploit.. like the King Kong hack on 360.. even JTAG (non RGH) were hard ($$$) to find 12 months after being patched --I am 99% sure PS4 and 720 will not be hacked.. a 1MB hypervisor where each line of code can be scrutinized, everything encrypted numerous times, efuses etc Dont forget PS3 was only hacked because of a leaked service dongle.. in other words a documented way to access the system that was made public. before that.. years of no progress then geohots frankenfirmware was all we had. But I do hope we see DUPLEX releases of playable PS4 isos.. coz.. **** Sony.

If PS3 still had OtherOS everyone would still be happy without JB/CFW. I for one would, I'd love to use my PS3 as a Linux PC. |

No, your choice to use the current exploits to use homebrew and other applications on your PSP is your choice, but to do that and to want to continue to do that is a bit of a bigger choice. Once the exploits are released, they WILL be fixed, there is nothing stopping them from just being patched, but then you have to make the choice to enjoy your own newer games over playing older games on older firmware just to have homebrew and other things like that.
If you are in it for the homebrew, the choice is a simple one, just don't update, and enjoy as much emulators and etc as you want. If you are in it to pirate and play games, you will probably end up updating to play the one game you own over the hundreds you can play. It's human nature to want what we can't currently have, and if there is a possibility of having it, there's a possibility of doing it.

Not in the slightest bit, other than resizing 480x272 to 960x544. The PSVita's PSP emulator is limited to the hardware spec of the PSP 1000.

I love it for otherOS, homebrew and backing up games. But dont be too naive thinking that there arent people out there that have a hacked ps3 purely for downloading and playing pirated games. I know alot

Pirates probably make up a good 75-80% of the people that come here for hacking.

Before PSJB, we had Emulators running via OtherOS and via Swap magic on the GameOS. Before PSJB, we had PS2 Backups, running via the switch method, or Via Swap Magic/USB Loader. Before PSJB, we had homebrew games via BD-J, until Sony blocked that, the only option back then was to buy a BD Drive, blank BR discs and place your 1MB homebrew game... We had all the above, whilst being on the current firmware, with access to OtherOS and PSN(apart from BD-J). Once Sony stole OtherOS and PSJB was released, we had all that in improved segments, with the addition of PS3 backups and PSP/PS1 backups(Via Cobra). This is the same as the PS Vita, we have everything/emulators/homebrew/PSP backups, once the Vita gets properly hacked, we will have exactly that with the addition of PS Vita backups. So really things have not changed that much |
