It should have a ribbon cable that says e3 nor clip or something like that. It will also have a solder board called the e3 linker. If he e3 flasher is a clone, it will have the numbers 1312 on the motherboard of the flasher itself.

The Joints aren't soldered, everything is there and doesn't contain the numbers, so it is legit. Wait..the 'E3 Linker' is a solder board?! I though this '3K Limited' was solderless? I found a video/tutorial for my FAT PS3, the original one I was looking at was for the slim PS3, so I'm watching this: E3 FLASHER DOWNGRADE TUTORIAL - INSTALLATION FAT (Khalkedon) - YouTube I watched the entire video twice, but am confused with only three things: 1 - What is a 'P3GO'? It looks like it's something like this: http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/641/1003824.jpg,. am I right, or is it a special USB flash drive with some files I don't have on it? *video doesn't really say anything about it at all, just that it's used once, no idea what for* 2 - The video did NOT mention anything about the 'E3 Linker' or how to use it, so do I need it for something else, like dual booting or something? This is what I got, in case you wanted to see: http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/641/1003824.jpg http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/2108/1003825o.jpg http://img825.imageshack.us/img825/181/1003826zy.jpg http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/8656/1003827r.jpg http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/3350/1003828y.jpg http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/5166/1003829j.jpg http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/6674/1003830.jpg http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/8749/1003831iw.jpg 3 - The video says: "Copy/paste to root of flash memory "Lv2diag.self" and "PS3UPDATE.PUP" files from Downgrade Files > Step1" ...what files, did I miss something? Edit1: I think I found the files, these ones are what he's talking about, right?: http://www.ps3devwiki.com/files/lv2d...%20downgrader/ *I don't see the 'PS3UPDATE.PUP' file, unless there talking about the v3.55 (Custom Firmware) files, there not in the same directory like video shows, but they'll work, right?* Also: If you think I need to make a new topic since I have all hardware that I need, and only need software and help, A will, just tell me please. A p3go is a fsm dongle. You will need someone to throw the system into fsm. Did you get an e3 reader? The e3 limited is solderless. It should have came with a ribbon cable. The e3 linker is an extra they throw in, but it isn't necessary.

I have this, it says it's a e3 reader: http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/641/1003824.jpg So I take it I use this when the video talks about the P3GO, good that I have one that will work. But do I need to put files on it or something? I haven't opened it yet, but it looks like a USB/Micro-SD card/drive adapter, unless this one is special in some way. |

Yeah. When you stick the e3 card reader in your computer it will pop up two files. One will be a regular drive folder like e or f or whatever your computer makes it. The other one will say e3 upgraded or something like that. You will put the e3 card downgrader.bin in this folder and the red light on the card reader will turn blue. Now it is ready to be used as a fsm dongle. You will put it in when you are suppose to and hit power eject.

But it appears you use this 'downgrader.bin' file twice, am I right? Once on the TF Cover board (using Micro-SD ~@13:47), and once on the e3 card reader, via USB/slot on the PS3 (~@15:02 USB 2nd slot, via e reader) did I get that right? If that is all right, the only thing I need to make sure is when the youtube video talks about the self files, these are what there talking about, these, right (@ 16:37? http://www.ps3devwiki.com/files/lv2d...%20downgrader/ If that is the case I have all hardware and software to do the downgrade, I'll start right after I make backups of all my save data on my PS3 (Just in case) |

No they are different. One is E3 downgrader.bin that goes in the tf card slot on the flasher. Then there is e3 card downgrade.bin that goes on the e3 card reader.
************* [ - Post Merged - ] ************* Make sure you get good bios dumps before continuing the downgrade process. You can check them yourself for validity or you can upload them on here and let someone else check them for you. If you have any questions, ask and don't just assume. Patience is a virtue when it comes to this. Don't skip steps and ask if you re unsure. Good luck

And it doesn't tell you to validate your backups before flashing anything. Also, the downgrade is not complete with out dehashing. If you can read and follow instructions, I would suggest following the guide below.

@ Bigbones87:
Ok, now I'm confused again. So I'll do some more re-reading first. @ playerkp420: I was wondering why the so many turn on, do this, turn off steps it talked about. Since My PS3 is v4.11 right now, and all my save files are backed up, I'm ONLY going to take apart my PS3, and install the E3 flasher. *yes it finally sank in, take it slow* So I only need to worry about the 'update.bin' file (updating the E3 flasher) that I put on my MicroSD card, right? File is here, right? http://www.e3-tech.net/download.html There are two files, do I need the file '2011.11.22 upgrade.rar' or '2012.01.05 update.rar'? *don't know if latest version file is best since were talking about this stuff and not a PC program or something* Then only follow the tutorial playerkp420 pointed to and work on only backing up and validating the NOR dump first. The only thing I'm worried about only doing this much, is the part about using a Hex editor or the Flowrebuilder v4.2.2.0 program (no idea what they do, so I'll read some more) I think the guide (did only a quick glace at the tutorial playerkp420 linked to) gives links to these programs that I need to use. I know next to nothing, ok truthfully nothing at all, about how to use a Hex editor or where to get one. BTW: If I want to dual-boot, do I need to do any soldering, or cut any lines on the motherboard at all? If not, the idea of being able to switch back and forth sounds Great! |

It is simple. Follow playerkp420 guide in his sig. There are two files called downgrade.bin. One is e3 _downgrade.bin, and it is the one you put on the micro sd card and put in the flasher sd card spot. The other one is e3card_downgrade.bin and it goes on the upgrader folder of the e3 card reader. The e3 card reader should be red, then you drag the file over to upgrader folder and drop it. The light will turn blue. You have now made the e3 card reader a fsm dongle.
************* [ - Post Merged - ] ************* Dual booting requires some soldering and cutting of the resistor on the ps3 motherboard. Not an easy thing to accomplish if you aren't experienced. Also the software process is a little more difficult.
