This tutorial is as succinct as it need to be. If you can format a USB drive wtf are you doing attempting to hack a PS3? :-P

To for at a USB drive, insert it into your pc, right click on the dive in my computer, click format drive, choose fat32.

If your Operating system (vista, seven, etc..) doesn't support fat32 google a free tool that will do it for you.

Which flasher would you personally reccommend to buy? I've come (over my long reading lol) across a thread which was about E3 flasher, possibly releasing keys on 31 September; and on another thread i have read that progskreet will work on multiple devices rather than just the one. Although i possibly may not use the flasher multiple times (can only say in time)

I'm tempted to go for progskreet (even though i haven't checked if there's a video tutorial for this one lol). A wise decision from the Hoch?

Thanx DEFAULTDNB I checked SKU awhile ago and I can downgrade,My PS3 is a 2008 model that came with 2.45 OFW. Thanx again for the info,I'm doing this for my 9yr old son,So he thanx you aswell.

Your PS3 model CECHExx is a nand model. E3 flasher is for nor models.

Use Progskeet for nand models.

after doing this i can play all the game pireted

I have downloaded the ofw of 3.55 and installed no problem via usb.On trying to install kmeaw 3.55 it transfers to the ps3 fine and i go through the accets ans so on then when it tries to install i get a message saying 3.55 already installed and there is no need to install again and my only option is to press o and return to main menu.
i know i must be doing something wrong but what.I installed the updates via system update then via usb as i could not get the other menu to come up.
I owuld also like to thank you for the noob guide and i know once i get passed this problem ill be ok.

Install through recovery mode, not XMB.
