ps3 overheat/shuts off
hello, first off...
What model number is your PS3? CECHE01 What firmware is your PS3 on? The latest one Is it a hardware problem? not sure but i do not think so Is it a software problem? i think If it is a software problem, have you made sure that you have downloaded the latest version of this software? yes Are you running CFW? nope Is your console bricked? Nope Have you ever downgraded your console with hardware flashers? (Teensy, ProgSkeet, E3 Flasher, etc...) Nope Have you tried searching the forum for someone experiencing the same problem before posting? Yes Describe your problem: Ok this is a long one, first off a few years ago it was shutting off after a couple hours of gaming on ps3 games. But was still able to play ps1/ps2 games, along with dvd's and blu ray. I played it a couple times a week and about a year later, when I was playing, it turned off about a an hour and a half, like it usually does, and waited for it to cool down. But something amazing happened, it did not turn off while i was playing god of war 3. For about 6 months it was working fine until recently (well to my knowledge atleast). Now I am able to play ps3 games for hours, netflix for 6+ hours, dvd and blu ray, but it overheats while I am playing ps1/ps2 games. I bought crash bandicoot for ps2, and the console's fan was really loud while playing crash and shut off about 15 mins of gameplay. At the same time I got the downloadable version of crash bandicoot on psn store, and it is happening with that game too. Long story short, overheats, shuts down and blinks red. What have you tried to do to resolve this issue yourself: The only work I have done on it was replace the blu ray lens and clean out the dust, but I have not cleaned it out for about a year so far. |

Yes you should get it reballed. I have had the blinking red on a couple PS3 and that fixed them.

But why does it only happen when i play ps1 and ps2 games, and it turns off like 15 mins into it. And i would play ps3 games for hours and my gf would watch around 6 hours of shows on netflix without turing it off?
Have you ever heard of this happening. I looked it up and usually the ps3 games cause it to overheat. |
