dont take this the wrong way but if you dont even know what thermal paste is for or how to use it "correctly" then you will be better off getting someone else to fix your ps3, just sayin... did you get the cheap paste or good paste?

I used arctic silver 5 paste and applied just like the video,AFTER you've heated the needed areas. Search for "gilkys ylod fix" on youtube, superb guide. Now I'm gonna buy a bunch of cheap ylod ps3 and try some more, yay! |

I successfully fixed a PS3 with a good heat gun. It was given to me for free so I had nothing to loose. Not sure if I would bother buying a YLOD to try and fix it. Kind of a hassle if you ask me.
I had a 360 RROD and could not fix it with the same heat gun. Figured that would be easier... I miss playing Alan Wake. |

Safe and Easy Application As the ARCTIC MX-2 does not contain any metallic particles so electrical conductivity will not be an issue. Unlike other silver and copper compounds, the ARCTIC MX-2 ensures that contact with any electrical pins would not result in any sort of damage. Moreover the ARCTIC MX-2 is very easy to apply as it has ideal consistency. Last edited by InQontroll; 09-13-2012 at 02:02 PM. |

that will be absolutely fine.
i see people buying thermal compound that has the consistency of jizz expecting it to work on xbox/ps3/pc ![]() you need the smallest amount possible when you use it, a very thin layer on each of the cell/rsx. too much is a bad thing and can actually lead to overheating. it is only used to fill in the minute gaps on the surfaces of the heatsink/chip face make sure you fully clean the old paste off the heatsink and chips with alcohol or similar before applying new

And after the heating the paste It works fine! I let it rest 24 hours and will see how long the fix works. Thanks |
