The other one is e3card_downgrade.bin and it goes on the upgrader folder of the e3 card reader. The e3 card reader should be red, then you drag the file over to upgrader folder and drop it. The light will turn blue. You have now made the e3 card reader a fsm dongle.

Dual booting requires some soldering and cutting of the resistor on the ps3 motherboard. Not an easy thing to accomplish if you aren't experienced. Also the software process is a little more difficult.
That makes sense.
OK, I'll follow playerkp420 guide in his sig, then post in that topic to verify the files before I do anything else.

I'll just skip dual-booting then, and just do a normal downgrade, then to custom v3.55 then.
Easier for me and since this is my first time...I think it's best.

*takes a breath*
Lets attach the E3 flasher!

Thanks, I have final question before I start, sorry.

I was about to open my PS3, but I was wondering:
Should I use Hydrogen Peroxide or something else to clean the contacts of the E3 flasher and the chip on the PS3 motherboard?

From what I understand its best to clean them before attaching the E3 flasher, but not sure what is good and not good to use on them.

I'll hold off until I get an answer, I don't want to use the wrong item to clean before I start.

You need to use 92% or more isopropyl alcohol. Use it on the clips pins and the nor legs. It will clean them really well, and also it will evaporate quickly and leave no residueor film. Take a tooth brush and dip it in and scrub the clip pins and nor legs. It won't hurt the board or the clip, so don't worry.

The highest/closest I could find at all the stores I went to was "91% isopropyl alcohol" so I got that, and am going to use it.

*The next highest was something called 'Denatured alcohol' and it was 99%, but they didn't have any in the store.*

I also got a small toothbrush that's new (un-opened) so I'll use that with it.

Denatured alcohol is the best, but they usually don't carry it except for at specialty stores. 91% will work just fine, you will just have to give it a little more time to evaporate before reassembling the ps3.

It is the lowest you want to go tho, because any lower and the additives will leave a film on the pins and legs which may hinder the flashers ability to read and write from/to the nor accurately and properly.
