Open ps3jig
Unplug the power from ps3
Plug PSP in right USB port
Plug power back in ps3
Press power then eject.
You should then see the communication between the PSP and ps3 on the PSP screen.
Then your PS3 should shut off automatically.
Plug USB flash drive in right USB port with only these files on it. Rename the pup file to PS3UPDAT.PUP.
Turn on ps3 and it should install firmware.
Then exit fsm with only this file on flash drive.

I think you can use an android phone to trigger fsm also. But I am not sure how to set it up.

I wasn't sure what iPhone you have. You must have a newer one?

Here is a list of devices you can use. I see the ipod generation 1, but I think you can use a gen 3 with PSGroove Jailbreak Ported to Rockbox.

I was thinking though, if you guys bricked on a higher DEX firmware than 3.55, I don't think this method will work. You would of had to be on 3.55.
You wouldn't be able to call on the syscalls on a higher firmware. So you would be able to enter FSM. But installing the lv2diag.self will not call the syscall correctly and the update will fail. Also, you will not be able to exit FSM.

More and more I am starting to think the only way to fix this, is with a flasher.
It would be easy with a flasher. You would just have to patch your original backup for downgrade, flash, downgrade to Rogero CEX, dehash, then convert to DEX again.

Hahah. Police sound. I can just imagine someone turning on their CFW PS3 and then the sound comes, "oh god, no, not the PSOD! (police sound of death)" then they just run out of their house (while holding their precious modified ps3 of course) as they police comes after him for tampering with his PS3. Great security system Sony implemented

So it worked. Sweet.

That error you got the first time was:
Code:
Update error 0x8002F057 Error with installing Firmware update in service mode: "Bul-ray Disc Player Revoke done(0x8002f057). Updating or Verifying failure 0x8002f057. UpMng.UpdatePackage() failure. manufacturing updating FAILURE(0x8002f057)" // caused by downgrading and using normal lv2_diag.self and not a noBD firmware (using the jaicrab lv2_diag.self as workaround will cause one ROS to be empty and can result in RLOD/GLOD/RSOD).
So using Rogero has the checks removed and is why it worked. You probably want to dehash. The syscon checks are there again, from being on a firmware higher than 3.55. Even though it was DEX.

Glad to see you fixed it.

@mckenziesdaddy have you found a factory service mode dongle that works yet?
