There's a syscon update in every firmware, they just haven't used the one to patch downgrades. I could explain exactly how it would, but you probably wouldn't understand it since you don't believe what I'm saying already. Nothing against you, but seriously, I don't like Sony as much as the next guy, but they're smarter than you give them credit for.

ok, let's do something then, for the sake of research. let's create a firmware that defaults syscon to only accept the lowest firmware of the ps3 i'm using as 3.55. we have the keys, so that shouldn't be a problem. send it to me via PM, since i don't want other users to get the same ill fate as i'm going to get. if it works with my ps3, i'll accept your argument as valid, concrete proof of it. would this be possible to you?

Those keys are meant for the firmware, not the pkg. Ill fate? The only fate you'll get is a syscon brick because you don't know how to change syscon and rebuild it. But I'll pm you something.

I find it hard to believe in the syscon update when sony goes to the extreme when suing every hacker. I mean why not just update the syscon then. Knowing sony they would have updated it if they could years ago.
