That's not the point im making. I mean if they go to the extremes to protect their console from being hacked why would they leave the syscon as it is. Sony wants to stop people getting their consoles jailbroken so it makes zero sense to leave their console exploitable.

Sony doesn't care about cfw. Only the producers that badger them care. Sony only cares about syscon, bootldr and metldr, hence, why geo and graf were taken to court.

Perhaps locking it in Syscon would create more problems than it would solve? Like them being unable to troubleshoot broken consoles that they get for repair, or perhaps being unable to update the console through a system update?

Also, why would Sony put a firmware version check into the firmware if they did not care about downgrades?

How could having CFW users on PSN when the exploits get released be any good for sony.Adding that hackers are getting sony keys and releasing them If i were them i would have updated the syscon by now. why hasn't it happened because they can't do it or won't for whatever reason (legals problems maybe). Since you posted that sony doesn't care for CFW then the update won't happen so i will believe this when i see it. For the guy who posted above master737373 dude stop sucking up to people it makes you look bad.

Hash checks have been out longer than custom firmware. There only a couple of thousand ps3's on cfw compared to the 70+ millions consoles they've sold. That's a small number. Again, they only patch cfw because the producers threaten them to.

Cheesethief, you're close about the repairs thing. They don't lock syscon away for many reasons.

And baileyscream is right. I'm putting it right in your face. He's not sucking up, he knows how much knowledge I have.

I have been only reading your theory and i see no actual proof to your claim that's why i'll believe it when i see sony updating it. With the scene having so many lies you should not blame me for not believing in posts like this.
