Why not just fix the YLOD yourself? or if you have a defective lens, just order one and replace it yourself..


The ribbed top is a great gathering of dust, and then with the top slamming open (when in the layed down position) is a great way to get more dust onto the lens. ofcourse the toploader with the lens so clearly visible is also a good way to get a dirty lens, especially with people who don't take care of their discs/console..

YLOD fixes are only temporary, id rather just use a newer slimmer model anyway.

Your totally wrong controllers don't cost anywhere near £50 and this console won't be £299 in the UK. You forget RRP(remmended retail price) no shop sells at full wack these days, too much competition.

Cosmetically, not a huge improvement imo; however it looks nicer than the current slim.

I'd totally buy one if it had the EE+GS put back in. However, I'm 99.9% sure that ain't gonna happen.

Despite the specs of PS4 and Xbox Infinity (or the other codenames: 8, Durango, 720) are probably going to be better, let's not forget what Nintendo does best, makes the games a lot of fun.

I'm pretty sure one of the first things that are going to happen is that top slider is going to become loose slowly but surely. A blu ray top loader? It actually kind of reminds me of the first vcr's that hit the market with the top loader. Older members will know. Overall it looks and sounds very cheap in quality (I mean the sound it makes when that slider jolts open)

With that aside, has anyone else thought of an exploit possibility with this new blu ray loading method? The first thing that went threw my mind when I saw it was the memories (some painful) of me swapping retail discs with backup discs containing free mcboot.elf renamed to a game elf on the backup disc on my trusty ps2 trying to get free mcboot to boot. I know its a totally different story with the ps3 in terms of it being that easy, but perhaps it will inspire some devs to tinker a little? I'm quite confident that with a bit of tampering (and masking tape ) it will be very straight forward to make that piece of cheap plastic think that the tray is closed while the disc is spinning away.

Just sharing what was on my mind. You never know...Sony is quite careless

On a more serious note...slide top to open? I smell a lawsuit
