And here I was hoping that the new reply would have something to do with my thread.

Persona 4 Arena is region locked but easy to over come ..
region locking has been in the Param.sfo for a very long time just never used .. when u see the REGION_DENY in the param.sfo that tell u there is region locking .. Example in Persona 4 its set to DDFFFFFF that says block everything but NTSC pritty much .. so if u set it to FFFFFFFF it will block everything and not be playable anywere .. if u set it to 00000000 then it can be played anywere .. So u should be able to play it any region. |

I just checked and Persona 4 Arena (BLUS-30985) hasn't got an update yet so it isn't possible to play it on DEX yet unless you've got the original disk.
If you keep track of it and gimme a PM as soon as it got an update, I'll try it on my DEX machine for ya (got an European PS3 as well). Edit: The Japanese version hasn't got an update yet either (BCAS-20251 and BLJM-60442) |

Ya, he means an official update for the game. Iīm not sure exactly why it only works like that but it does for backups on USB. Maybe someone can give a better explanation why an update is needed.

You need that update to be able to play a backup on DEX through USB emulation @aries2k Afaik, i could wrong here, the update is needed so you can use the eboot from the update. The original eboot.bin is signed with official keys and since it's signed, it can't be run through USB emulation. The update eboot is installed on the HDD and it takes over the booting of the game. At least this is how figured it works. If I'm wrong please correct me

So, I guess it will launch a signed NPDRM eboot(fself) from an update on HDD but wonīt launch the signed EBOOT(fself) straight from the game on BD EMU. This is why Iīm a little confused because I canīt launch a signed Homebrew EBOOT(npdrm fself) from hdd0 So I guess it some flag on the update eboot or something. like I said I donīt totally understand it. Well as long as we can get things to work itīs cool. off topic Resident Evil 6 demo working on DEX 4.1+

With the recent advances on the scene I thought I would try to resurrect this thread in hope of some answers. With the release of the new custom firmwares some users have stated that they have got Persona 4 Arena running. If that is true DEX is no longer needed to get this game running. I can only assume that this is on American PS3s though, so the questions about the region lock remains.
Is the region lock settings contained in the param.sfo or not? People who I have asked and people posting in this thread all have given different answers. So does anyone actually know? If someone is knowledgeable enough, could that person check out what needs to be changed to circumvent it or perhaps even whip up a fix? I sadly don't have enough knowledge to do this myself. |
