Borrowing the thread..

I have problems with my bluray drive power 4pin connector. I measured the voltage and noticed that the 5v pin was ok and so were the GNDs. The problem lies in the 12V line. At the start it was 12v but it started to drop and when I tried to put disc in the voltage dropped to 2V.

Could it work if I take 12V straight from the PSU? Has anyone tried this?

it should work , the original poster did the same, only difference is that he got it from the mainboard behind a fuse, but we are talking about the same 12V source...

the black wire should be the 12V

black 12V
grey 0V
grey 0V
grey 5V

EDIT: did you looked for a loose connection?

Yeah, I have triple checked them. I also tried different power cable and data cable, so I think the problem is on the motherboard.

Should I put a fuse between the connection and what size that should be?

for you i did cut my 12V wire and tried to measure the current.
i had peaks of 600-800 mA, measured on a digital meter so don't know how accurate that is.

I have some good news and some bad news.

The good news is that the bluray drive gets power now, eject button works and the disc insert sensor works.

The bad news is that the XMB still does not detect the drive. I did database rebuild but that didn't work. I will test with another data cable and get back with the results.
