My neighbour was impressed by my E3- he got one. Now he's bricked his console- tried to flash in a corrupt NOR. He has a DYN-001 MOBO too with a Samsung chip (same as mine) but my NOR won't work (I didn't think it would). Is he permabrick SOL? I did get his E3 to work, but only green light of death on the console- no video, no HD activity.

If he has a full dump of his nor, he can reflash it, if not the console is dead.

He still has his orig dump ?

You may have permabricked his console, by flashing your nor to his ps3.

He would of still had a chance to get a good dump, with per console info intact. But now that your per console info has overwritten his, I don't think it can be fixed.

he had already overwritten his NOR with the corrupt data- mostly "null" when read. yea I thought as much.

He does- mostly "NULL" after I checked it with HexD- he never bothered (lessons to be learned) and flashed back in

So he didn't have the clip on good enough, and didn't get a good dump. And then flashed the bad dump to the ps3.
If he stopped there and reseated the clip and got a good dump, then it could of most likely been fixed.

Because since the clip was not reading everything, it probably didn't write over everthing either.

But if you got the clip on good then flashed a dump from a different console. It then wrote over the per console data.
And not having a good dump with HIS per console data intact, it is not able to be fixed.

I suspected as much. But I hardwired the E3 after he tried the clip- he somehow managed to overwrite a good deal if the chips contents with "NULL". It appears you don't need every pin to make contact to at least partially write to the chip. I suspect the address pins were connected but the data were not.

Since you hard wired the E3, you should have made a backup. Then patched it and continued with downgrade.

Would that have worked even with a corrupted copy? The copy I downloaded from his PS3 NOR was corrupted- it was identical to the one he had flashed in before- almost completely NULL.
