Is there a way to stop wasting GBs of memory on the mandatory install that the game does because the same files get copied to the internal HDD which is fine if you run the game from a BD disc but a waste of space if you run the game from HDD already like MFW PS3 users.

It is possible to install your game data to an external hdd if you want.

I don't know much about it but do some searching around here if you are interested. The method only works on mfw.

A bit of topic, but is there anyone that has the gameDATA tool source code? I need it to try to modify it so it could install PKG's to dev_hdd0/game

I know about gamedata tool and also installing game data in external via multiman. So there is no way to stop the mandatory game data install or anyother way to link the game data to the game itself stored in the HDD :S

i have answered in tekken thread about this. you can link the files from backup folder, but you first must know which files get installed, so it does not work with all games.

to link files i am using old mm v2. don't know how to do it with v4

examples:
"tales of graces f" or "wipeout hd fury"

I do wish $ony added the feature to allow to install any and all PS3 game data to the HDD, because the Blu-ray speed just bores me the hell out for being so slow.

been away for a while.... is there any method for skiping the game data install in the new multiman 04.20.01..found this in its change log
