Got black screen of death while trying to update the ps3. i was trying to change the hdd on my ps3 n it asked for update. but after preparing for update nothing got displayed on screen. now i m unable to assign controllers. unable to get to the recovery menu, tried av tried different hdmi.
but still bad luck

i was on 4.20 n putted 4.25 on usb just got black screen after preparing for update

Oops, looks like you're another one bricked by $ony.

Can you access the Recovery Mode? If so, try to re-install 4.20/4.21 instead of the broken 4.25 OFW.

did you allready try to put the old hdd back in?

i'm guessing since controllers won't sync that recovery menu dousnt work either...

old hdd passed out thats why i installed the new one.
No recovery mode
No assignment for controlers
n my ps3 is downgradable so can i fix this with e3 flasher ?

others might know the answer to this question, i guess you need a working dump from the flash? , i'm a total noob when it comes to e3 flasher....

lolz funny thing happened today .
i visited the local service center to see if they can do anything
n they r saying they can exchange it if i give them 300 dollars lolz
the funny thing is i can get the new ps3 at the exact same price.
dont know what they r exchanging.
if its dead i can still use its power supply, dvd drive , controllers n other components too for other slims
**** u indian SONY.
Plz can someone help me i m thinking if i can get to the service settings menu can i get out of it using E3 flasher.
My ps3 is on 4.20, i also have service dongle n i also know i will get stuck lolz

i will see if something comes out from there.
if my ps3 was on 3.55 i should have easily repaired this.
n this proves that hb devs are better than SONY

k k i m back again recovered from semi brick.
the thing i did is, i inserted the old hdd again n after 15 to 20 tries i got to recovery menu .
i can now assign controllers n everything. now plz can someone just give the link to 4.20 ofw bcoz 4.25 almost facked ma ps3
