Shame on the naive enough to play online or do the damn update to the system when it's not needed.
Nintendo don't have enough RAW power to detect a *pirate* Cart on every single system that they created. (Unless they work with Echeleon or some INTEL agency).
Someone is telling them, many other brands of this cartridges stop the manufacture process for that reason because there are many cartridges on the market clones at cheaper prices.

I don't blame them, the same as DRM dongles (Sony detected TB or another dongle that was inserted on the console? = No).
They need to kill the product in order to create a newer one promising something that will eventually fail to deliver, happens in every scene.
I highly doubt that either of the two flashcard companies that are still working on the 3DS informed Nintendo on how to detect the cards. DarkFader showed us how easy it was when he released a Virus to attack only certain flashcards.

It's Nintendo's system and it doesn't take a lot to detect what is inserted into the 3DS - only a few lines of code that some random homebrew programmer can easily come up with.

There's no conspiracy and you're wrong that all other scenes. Nintendo DS flashcards do what they say they do and there was and will never be a 100% solid guarantee that modifications won't be blocked by Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, etc ... In my case all of the modification products I've used in the past have done what they said they would do and getting blocked is the chance we take - it's not some scheme to make money.

I think the TrueBlue debacle has tainted your mind. You're way too paranoid and you're reaching into thin air.

nintendo have ALWAYS found a way.

how long it lasts for is yet to be seen.

i still have my flash cart and am still on a low enough firmware and have no need to update at present.
as always, updating is to be avoided unless you are happy to potentially lose the ability for good.
common sense dictates that the choice and repercussions are yours.

if a function/game tempts me to update then i will happily do it without looking back (as i did with ps3)
i still have my dslite in any case.
the true goal is 3ds mode being hacked which is what i currently wait for.

I'm right when it comes to the listed *facts* and not opinions or speculations. An example being that a NDS homebrew author can easily detect a flashcard is a fact. I won't go on repeating what I said, but yes, you are wrong. If some amateur can detect the card then why would the giant entity that created the device not be able to? Hell, they could just get some basic code on Wiki's.

Try posting what you did on a respected Nintendo DS scene site and you'll be eaten alive.

Ok, the 3DS update will only block the flashcarts from working with teh 3DS (if you update), you can still use the flashcarts with a DS phat, DS lite, DSi, and DSi XL, so all is not lost. The current flashcarts will never be blocked on the DS phat and DS lite, and questionable if they can be blocked with the DSi/XL.
