wouldnt it be logical for a cfw 4,xx to need to first go to the official 4.xx (for safety?) then the cfw?
and thats not reversable to 3.55 ofw?

Ok, so let's say there's a new 4.21 CFW and it's released, would it enable me to do pretty much whatever I want with my ps3? Play new games without having to wait for eboots etc? More advanced homebrew and what not?

As I said I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to this custom stuff so forgive me if this is the wrong place to ask/discuss it. (Feel free to point me in the right direction were I could read/learn more about it)

this is true justforyou but we have no idea what has been done to ofw 4.21 to make the cfw so all we can do is wait but my understand of how firmwares are flashed pretty much agrees with you it is just the specific notes on the Chinese site that draw caution

joonski looks like this is strictly about pirating/backup at the moment but who knows maybe the homebrew just needs repkg and it will work as well
