i would recommend just doing a reflow on it yourself using a heat gun. i have done it countless times for friends and family and even local video rental stores and never had a problem with them. it could have been something simple like too much or too little thermal paste or even a cheap thermal compound i recommend using arctic silver
there are plenty of tut on youtube.this looks like a good one PS3 YLOD Fix with Flux - YouTube i never use the flux though. hope this helps |

I reflowed my previous model, it destroyed it over time. I'm not planning on doing it again. I didn't downgrade it either. It stopped properly reading BD's, so I took it apart, and swapped out the BD laser trays. That's it. Haven't done anything else to it, nor modified any other way, software or hardware. It's like it has to be something with the drive. PS2 and 1 games worked fine, as did DVDs before I swapped the laser, powered up fine, everything. After the swap, nothing. Seems too convenient to be a coincidence.

can you take a pic of the top of the ps3 with the lburay removed?
that will help refresh my memory of exactly how a cechE looks. i would try this. remove everything from the motherboard. EVERYTHING except the PSU. you will need to hook up your controller if the ps3 boots. if it doesnt boot... then you need to do a continuity test on the cables on the psu and be sure they are good. also you need to continuity test the fuses on the motherboard. and you need to look everything over real good. 1 transitor or resistor popping off the motherboard will make you pull your hair out. look very closely all over the motherboard and do continuity checks on the fuses. |

Attached below, is a pic of the actual unit, sans the BD drive. Thanks for the help. ![]() ************* [ - Post Merged - ] ************* And I fully disassembled the system, looked at the board, everything looks alright, no issues or broken components. |

Excuse me, I stand corrected. It's not a YLOD, it's a RLOD. Missed the different color. Does that make any difference?
